Quality testing is an important part of the manufacturing process & it is imperative as it directly reflects on the performance and durability of the final product. Environmental Testing refers to those tests that manufactured goods are subjected to in order to ensure good quality and superior performance. This includes aspects like determining the failure rate of the products & ensuring whether they are capable of withstanding the harsh environmental conditions to which they may be subjected.

In short, Environmental Testing refers to testing the manufactured products in the environmental conditions in which they be will be utilized. There are several Types Of Environmental Testing Instruments available in the market; some examples include
  • Environment Chamber - This type of industrial testing instrument is used to assess the effects of different environmental elements on the products.
  • BOD Incubator – This testing instrument is used in incubation & testing applications involving BOD samples.
  • Muffle Furnace – The Muffle Furnace is used for incineration of solid substances & is widely utilized in the paper & packaging industries.
  • Laboratory Oven – The Laboratory Oven is available in a variety of temperature ranges and sizes. These Industrial Testing Instruments prove useful in many thermal processes which include for - heat treatment & storage purposes, sterilization, aging & drying processes, thermal testing & many more. One example of its application includes in the paper & packaging industry where it is used for moisture determination in paper, paperboard, pulp, etc.
  • pH Meter – One of the most common application of this testing instrument is in the paper & packaging industry where it is used to determine the pH value of the pulp solution.

Classification Of Environmental Testing
  • Mechanical Environment Testing - Mechanical testing includes testing the manufactured products to determine their ability to withstand mechanical elements e.g. shock, vibration, collision, acceleration, loud noise, strong winds
  • Climatic Environment Testing - As is indicative from the name itself, this kind of testing is done to determine the manufactured products’ ability to withstand environmental elements e.g. gas, salt, rain, wind, pressure, humidity, temperature, solar radiation etc.
  • Combination of Above - In this kind of testing, the products are tested for their ability to bear both environmental and mechanical elements.
With the use of proper Environmental Testing Instruments, the failure rate of the manufactured products can be minimized to a great extent. This is very essential because if the products fail once they have been launched in the market, it will not only lead to huge monetary losses but also will affect the reputation & credibility of the manufacturer in the long run.
